Bully by Lee Hirsch

The documentary Bully is about Children who are called names such as fat, ugly, fish face, and all sorts of mean names. Hirsch shows the lives of many children in their all time lows because of bullying.  Alex is one of the kids in this documentary, he is a 14-year-old in Sioux City, Iowa, He is teased daily, humiliated and assaulted (especially on the school bus), but he does not know how to  tell his parents what is going on, because he thinks that it is just “games” that his “friends” are playing with him. He even sticks up for his bullies, who he says are “just messing around” when they stab him with pencils and call him terrible names. Alex is just an example of tons of kids that are bullied daily. The principals and teachers at Alex's’ school and all other schools with this problem use many excuses like “boys will be boys” and other unacceptable reasons, instead of trying to fix the problem.

In Bully by Lee Hirsch Children are shown as bullied children. Children are called ugly, fat, and made fun of because of their life choices. Children are pushed so far that some think that the bully is their friend, and everything is a joke. Others are Pushed to a point that they Would go as far as to say things like -”they push me so far that i want to become the bully”. In the end Hirsch shows us that bullying is a big problem in our society today. School systems do not understand it completely and many take it way too lightly as far as not doing anything and really just making excuses.
